A very good example of the eleventh impression, 1959. Child's ownership inscription on half-title, otherwise unmarked. 1/2" triangle of free endpaper at bottom of gutter torn, stuck onto inside of cover - may be a manufacturing defect. Slighest trace of foxing to slightly dust-soiled page edges, which are browned. Touch of corner rub, slight spine lean. No DJ.

A good sound example with light corner rub and a slightly darkened spine, marred by red and blue ballpoint scribbling, turning it into a gap-filler. Main scribbling on rear of free front endpaper and facing half-title, much less intense scribbles scattered throughout, quite sparsely. "19th March" stamped on half title, ownership panel completed, page edges yellowed and foxed, no DJ.

A very good example of the 1948 first edition with a neat dedication inside front cover. No other marks, feels little used. Page edges slightly darkened and dust-stained. DJ is tatty but largely complete, with much rubbing and chipping along top and bottom plus several tears. Price intact.

A nice unworn book, just a little foxing on endpapers and extreme page edges. DJ is fair, 3/4 inch piece missing from bottom of spine, top 1/2 inch of spine tatty, triangular piece missing from top front including the letters "ree" and part of "C" from title. Rubbed at corners. DJ is still bright and attractive with all these faults!
