Three very good hardback books on the history of St Bartholomew's Hospital as follows: ** "Images of Bart's: An Illustrated History of St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London" by Geoffrey Yeo ISBN 0948667176 First edition 1992. A very good 151 page hardback book. Spine of DJ sunned, otherwise entirely unmarked and unworn, possibly unread. Two sections: Bart's: The Place; and Bart's: The People, The Departments and their Work. Very heavily illustrated in monochrome, good index, extensive list of subscribers. ** "A Brief History of the Hospital of Saint Bartholomew" by Gweneth Whitteridge & Veronica Stokes; First edition May 1961. A very good 68 page hardback book without inscriptions or other marks, minimal shelfwear. 12 chapters, 28 illustrations. ** "A Short History of St Bartholomew's Hospital 1123-1923 Past and Present" by Sir D'arcy Power and H J Waring. First edition 1923. bookplate inside front cover "Presented on the Occasion of the Eight Hundredth Anniversary of the Foundation of St Bartholomew's Hospital by the Treasurer and Governors of the Hospital June 1923". Otherwise unmarked, light shelfwear, small bruise to front cover halfway up near spine. fore- and bottom-edges untrimmed, some pages still uncut so appears to be unread. heavily illustrated with 34 plates and numerous illustrations and plans in text. ** Founded by Rahere in 1123, St Bartholomew's Hospital has a continuous history of patient care over more than eight and a half centuries. It still occupies its original site in Smithfield, in the City of London, where it was first established in the reign of King Henry I. As one of the oldest and most distinguished hospitals in the world, Bart's enjoys an international reputation for medical and nursing care, and for education and research. ** All together a good solid history of St Bartholomew's Hospital.
